What’s Happening?
Ashland’s annual Country Life Festival was held on July 8th
Civil War equestrians rode the grounds. The braying of donkey, the bleating of goat and sheep and the crowing of rooster filled the air! It was Ashland’s Country Life Festival and a good time was had by all. Sheep shearing, wool spinning and wood crafting were among the many demonstrations that families and summer school groups got to see. Children participated in activities that ranged from “reading” Braille to washing clothes with a washboard. Everyone got a taste of Kentucky life in the Nineteenth century.
A Mad Hatter Tea
Was held for Girl Scout Troops on May 15th and again on the 16th for reserved seating. Attending were a number of Mad Hatters and Alices as well a Queen of Hearts and other illustrious guests! Teas and prizes were provided by MonTea:Featuring Elmwood Inn Fine Teas. Guests played crocquet games and the 19th Century Game of Graces and strolled the garden and grounds of Ashland.
