The Henry Clay Society

The Henry Clay Society is a special gift recognition society which honors the individuals and corporations who have demonstrated a commitment to the Henry Clay Foundation. The leadership provided by the Henry Clay Society sets an example for others who support the Ashland estate. That leadership and support are increasingly important as the Henry Clay Memorial Foundation moves to meet the challenges of preserving Ashland for future generations. With the continuing support of the Henry Clay Society, Ashland will maintain its historical and educational significance and be preserved as a National Historic Landmark.

The tangible benefits of membership to the individual are a permanent brass plate to be placed on a memorial wall at Ashland and an invitation to an annual formal dinner to honor the recipient of the Henry Clay Award. This award is presented to an exemplary and significant individual who manifests the qualities for which Henry Clay was most noted. Other benefits include unlimited free tours for donors and family, a newsletter and notification of all special events, and a discount at the Museum Store.

Please support the preservation of Ashland, The Henry Clay Estate by remembering the Henry Clay Memorial Foundation in your estate planning.

Volunteer Opportunities

The Henry Clay Estate is fortunate to have a talented professional staff. However, it is through the efforts of dedicated volunteers, working together with the staff that Ashland has been able to flourish. There are many ways to volunteer your time at Ashland including giving tours of the house and the property, assisting with special projects and events, or lending your unique talents to the estate.

All of the tours of the estate are given by volunteer docents who participate in an extensive orientation and training session prior to giving tours. There are also monthly programs on different topics related to history, art, and culture presented for the docents. The docents also staff the Museum Store. And, throughout the year, there are a number of special events and projects that require extra help, whether its stuffing envelopes, proofing copy, doing research, entering data, serving refreshments or greeting visitors.
